The number 1-8 is being used to distinguish between multiple VPN client users connected to the FVS318v3 at the same time. In our example, the domain name will be vpn_client<1-8>.fvs_remote_vpn_client. My FVS318 gives me about 11 Mbps download, while a direct connection from computer to the modem gives me 90 Mbps download. Time for a new firewall. I don't use the VPN capabilities, so I just need a Netgear expert to recommend a replacement that will allow me to get all the bandwidth I am paying for now.
